According to the Migraine Research Foundation, migraines and headaches affect 31 million women, men and children in the US alone & 1 billion world wide.
There is an enormous amount of evidence showing that chiropractic can effectively manage and treat all different types of headaches from tension headaches to migraines either alone or through co-management.
Chiropractic care, which involves several different areas of treatment and numerous specific techniques, can be used to reduce underlying muscle tension, alleviate pain and symptoms. Here is a few ways we can help:
Spinal manipulation – this involves applying a gentle force to a specific section of your spine to help “realign” your musculoskeletal system so any pain caused by tension or nervous system interference can be removed. Spinal manipulation is one of the most common techniques used by chiropractors which can relive headache pain.
Neck flexion exercise – a common underlying cause of headaches is neck tension. Depending on your specific headache, neck flexion exercises have been shown to both relieve pain and prevent future headaches.
Physical therapy exercises – Exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home. You will be shown how to do these stretches and exercises, so you feel comfortable doing them. Often these physical therapy exercises and stretches are used to maintain the tension relief from an adjustment.
Headache Prevention Plan - We can help you create a prevention plan by looking at various possible common headache triggers in your environment and diet. Often times headaches can be triggered by stress which can be greatly reduced by taking time out for yourself including massage therapy, taking time for breaks and making sure you have a comfortable workstation as well as sleeping area.
According to the America College of Physicians Low Back pain is one of the most common reasons for all physician visits in the U.S. Most Americans have experienced low back pain. Approximately one quarter of U.S. adults reported having low back pain lasting at least one day in the past 3 months.
Research Supports Chiropractic Manipulation. Spinal manipulation is a safe and effective, non-drug pain treatment. It reduces pain therefore reducing the need for medication in many cases.
After an extensive study of all available care for low back problems, the Federal Agency for Health Care Research and Quality recommends back pain suffers choose the most conservative care first. It recommended spinal manipulation as the only safe and effective, non-drug for of initial professional treatment for acute low back problems in adults.
An article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggested chiropractic care as an option for people suffering from low back pain and noted that surgery is usually not needed and should only be tried if all other therapies fail.

Foot pain is a common problem, largely due to the hard surfaces people to stand on (concrete, asphalt, hardwood, tile floors, etc.). Athletes young and old can also develop foot pain due to the large amount of impact required of the feet with explosive movements, like sprinting and jumping. We specialize in treating biomechanical foot pain in our office.
We have a very thorough foot exam process. The 26 bones of the feet are adjusted (as needed) to restore normal joint motion. To support the now properly functioning feet we may recommend a custom made functional orthotic. Our unique drug and surgery-free treatment has excellent success rates, and frequently has added benefits of reducing shin, knee, hip, ankle, and low back pain.
Did you know that estimated 25,000 people in the U.S sprain an ankle every day?! Ankle sprain is one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries. Ankle pain can be debilitating, interfering with your day-to-day tasks and activities affecting your entire body and can cause referred pain to your knees, hips, and low back. Most ankle pain is caused by a direct injury to the ankle, but many times the reason for the pain is unclear.
A typical treatment for a minor sprain would be to ice and stay off it until it feels better. Has anyone ever put the bone back in place so that the ligament can heal in normal position and length? That is what we do at our clinic. Restore the bones to normal position to allow them to heal. If this is not done, ankles can develop a “loose” feeling and frequently get sprained. This simple treatment can have big effects in the long-term health of your joints.
Acute and chronic pain in the knees may benefit from adjusting, taping, bracing, at home-exercises, orthotics, and/or massage therapies. Schedule an appointment with our office to determine if one of our treatment methods can help with your knee issues.
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body. It consists of three bones: the humerus, scapula, and clavicle. It also consists of many muscles and tendons that hold the shoulder bones in place and stabilize the arm through its full range of motion. The four major muscles and tendons of the shoulder come together to form the rotator cuff.
Because of the complexity of the shoulder joint there are several causes of pain. Some of the most common are Frozen shoulder, Dislocated shoulder, Pinched nerve, Rotator cuff injury, Arthritis, Shoulder Bursitis, Tendonitis, and Injury (strains and sprains)
Shoulder pain can occur at any time, sometimes worsening at night as the joint stiffens. Pain may feel like a dull ache or burning inside of the shoulder joint. Others may feel a sharp pain when moving in several different areas that could include the shoulder, the middle back between the shoulder blades, the neck, and the arm.

Dr. Dawn believes in viewing the body as a whole. Treating the spine is very important, treating the extremities and myofascial pain from musculoskeletal injuries can at times be as important as treating the spine.
